It’s been awhile since I’ve written and so much has happened with Claire. Let’s see…
Claire finally got over her teething stage for her first two teeth just in time for 4th of July weekend. We wanted to take her to go see the fireworks, and then we chickened out. Instead, we got her a little baby pool and hung out at the house and listened to the neighborhood fireworks. It was a great weekend. A bit hot, but still fun. We’re having a hard time with not having A/C. Everyone says you don’t need it out here, but I think we beg to differ. The furnace isn’t working at the moment, so it’s extremely hot upstairs. I think it’s bothering Claire a little (she’s crying more at night), but we’ll just have to get through it.
Little Claire is learning to walk before she crawls! She loves holding onto our fingers and practicing her walking. It’s so cute! It’s just amazing to watch her grow up. She’s trying different foods (still not as into the fruits, but she has a half a banana a day). We’ve been giving her crackers and pasta now along with edamame. She loves all of it!
Apparently she’s been standing up in her pack-n-play during nap time at daycare! Time to lower the crib! She hasn’t done it at home yet, but it’s not worth the wait to see if she does.
She’s been doing a TON of talking lately. She’s really starting to recognize things now. She actually claps when we say clap or when we’re clapping. We went to a kids symphony concert last weekend and she seemed to really enjoy it. The concert was for kids 0-5. It was so adorable! She was so well behaved. The parents around us kept commenting about how good she was. They had a 5 piece symphony and did a little story time. Jeff and I were so excited about all of it. They taught the kids the hand jive, and Jeff swears she can almost do it. Love it! We want to take her to more of those things and get the culture in. I was looking online to see if there are any classes we could go to, but they’re all during the day during the week. If I were only a stay-at-home mom - I’d have so much to do! It seems like all the fun things happen during the weekdays.
We had Claire’s 9 mo doctor visit on Monday. I seriously thought she would weigh 23-25 pounds….she’s now 21 pounds 29″. She did great during her visit. She had one shot and a finger prick blood test….she didn’t cry once! What a brave girl!!!! Oh, but we did discover that she’s going through a little bit of the separation anxiety stage. She used to do really well when we put her down at night. Now, she has a bit of a crying fit for us to come back in. She’s still asleep by 8 pm, but just some extra crying in-between. Poor thing.
I went by daycare to pick her up yesterday and they showed me her crawling. She’s actually moving forward now!!! So I showed Jeff. We were so excited….until this morning when I was getting ready and she was awake and moving around. Man it’s difficult to get ready while she’s crawling all over the place! Here’s where the fun begins!
I’m taking her to The Bite of Seattle (like The Taste of Colorado/Minnesota) this weekend with Melanie and Nathan (Claire’s old daycare buddy). Should be fun. Jeff and I keep trying to attend some “meet-up’s”, but we just haven’t been able to get our schedules right yet.
I think that covers most of it. Here’s some pictures from in-between.
