What a fun and busy weekend it was! Jeff had off the entire weekend, which is extremely rare, so we were busy all weekend long.
The weekend started off with Claire’s first taste of spaghetti (well, spiral noodles with tomato sauce, but that’s still spaghetti to me!). She got it all over and kept dropping it on the floor. When we were in Denver a few weeks ago, she started dropping things on the floor a bunch and whenever she dropped something, she said “uh-oh”, now she does that all the time. So I was smart enough and prepared for her to drop tomato sauce covered noodles onto the floor, so I put a towel down. Luckily I did so, because she dropped them everywhere (and they got on the wall too!). She looks happy though.
Saturday we headed over to downtown Seattle with the plans of going to the Seattle Art Museum (SAM). Instead, we ended up at the Seattle Sculpture Museum. It was a beautiful day out and was actually better to go to the sculpture museum since it was outside and right on the Puget Sound. We found the perfect benches to sit on and gaze out at the water. Even Claire seemed relaxed with the beautiful view and peaceful sound of the water. We did lots of playing and Claire seemed so happy to have both of us around. Saturday night we got a date night. Priscilla came over and Jeff and I went out for a few hours. We found a great little wine bar in Kirkland. Cute! We were home early though (10:30!!). Even Priscilla said we should stay out later!
Apparently Claire has recently stopped taking naps at daycare, but she seems to be super tired on the weekends. My thought is that she has a bit of my personality of wanting to be a part of the action instead of sleeping. Kinda cute!
Needless to say, she sleeps A LOT on the weekends now.
Sunday we decided to head over to the zoo for Claire’s very first trip to visit the animals. I thought it was going to be really nice out, but it was actually a bit chilly. Claire loved the zoo and seeing the animals. She was especially interested in the elephants! Then we headed over to a restaurant in Redmond for a bite to eat and then went home. Then we came home and did a little grilling (more eating!).
Monday we grabbed a bite to eat and then just bummed around. Jeff had some work to get done in the afternoon, but he ended up having more fun hanging out with us and procrastinated a bit (oops
). We finally let him work and Claire and I headed over to Juanita Bay Beach right down the road from us. Claire went on the baby swing for the first time and had a blast! She just squealed in delight! Too cute! Then we went over to the water and let her check it out. She wasn’t scared this time like when we were up at Deception Pass last weekend. It was a perfect day for us to just soak in some sun.
All in all, it was one of the best weekends we’ve had as a family in awhile. So crazy to think how much she’s changed and that she’s already almost one year old! She has so much personality now. She babbles all the time like she’s trying to tell us her story. She’s also recently started shaking her head no and smiling when we say no. Cute, but we still have to make sure she knows that she’s not supposed to do what she’s doing. Our little baby is becoming a little girl! Love it!
We’re so blessed to have such a great family.
