First time away from Claire

Jeff and I celebrated our 5-year anniversary this weekend. It was a wonderful short weekend getaway for us. We went up to the San Juan Islands. A little chilly, but it didn’t really matter. We got to do a ton of stuff and enjoy each other’s company. This is the first time since Claire has been born that we’ve been able to enjoy a few days alone together. I was fine the first day away, but the second day I really started missing her. Martha was so sweet to offer to come in town for the weekend to watch her. She does so well with kids. I called her a few times every day to check in. They were just busy busy busy doing things. They danced, and walked up the street (yes, Claire walked about two blocks on her own!), went shopping, went to the Tot Spot Cafe, went to the signing class and visited my cousin Chrissy. Claire had such a great time with her! She kind of looked at me surprised when we came home – like ‘who are you’? I’m so happy that she did so well. It makes me feel much better knowing she can hang out with anyone and not be fussy. Thanks Mema!!!!
