This year the holidays are being spent at our house. With everything going on with the economy, we can’t really afford to be traveling all over (plus, it’s a bit tough with Claire because she doesn’t want to sit still for long on the flight), so we’ve decided to stay here. Jeff has been moved over to a different property in his company to help out for the holidays. Turns out though that he’ll have to work Thanksgiving and Christmas, and most of the days leading up to the holidays. We just found this out a few weeks before Thanksgiving, and his family was already planning on coming out. So at least they can keep Claire and I company! Everything happens for a reason, right?!
Jeff’s parents came in on Thanksgiving morning. Claire seemed a little under the weather (again). It seems that she’s never feeling good when she sees family. Weird! Anyway, we decided to go up and visit Jeff Thanksgiving day at the resort (Salish Lodge). We got Claire all dressed up in a cute red dress and went up for a visit. The lodge overlooks Snoqualmie Falls (a beautiful waterfall). Apparently (so sad to hear) someone decided to jump on Thanksgiving morning right before we got there. Made for a kind of weird feeling in the air. We ended up grabbing a seat in their casual dining room and sat in some comfy couches. It was nice to be there even if Jeff had to work. We ended up doing our Thanksgiving dinner the next day. A little bit of a bummer (okay a lot of a bummer to me), but we were fine. At least we had family share it with. Saturday we headed up to Deception Pass so that Grandma Barb could see it. Unfortunately it was raining quite a bit so we couldn’t see much. We walked around La Connor to check out the antique shops, but it was a bit too rainy. So we headed home and hung out at the house. Jeff took off Sunday so that we could all hang out and have a nice breakfast together. Claire absolutely loved seeing the grandparents. I think she’s starting to remember them now. It’s been a little over a month since we last saw them, but she looked at them like they were familiar. They couldn’t believe how much she had changed still. I think the walking was a huge part of it.
Oh, so throughout the weekend she just was starting to seemĀ a bit off. Crying during the middle of the night and a bit fussy during the day. I thought about bringing her into the doctor, but held off because maybe it was nothing. The following week on Thursday she woke up from a nap at daycare with a little goop in her eye and daycare called and thought it was pinkeye. I didn’t take her in still because when she got home she looked fine. I finally ended up bringing her into the doctor on Saturday because she just still wasn’t herself. Turns out that she didn’t have pinkeye, but she had a double ear infection (and it was a bad one). Poor thing! I felt horrible that I didn’t bring her in earlier. So she went on antibiotics. Hopefully it kicks it!
